Katy Perry Opens ‘Witness’ Tour With Cover of Janet Jackson Hit

Katy Perry, who performs 20 of her greatest hits and six different costume changes during the show, donned a black-and-white number as she put her best spin on Jackson’s choreography from her performance of the song at the 1987 GRAMMY awards.

The singer put her own spin on the classic 1986 single “What Have You Done for Me Lately.”

While Katy Perry’s choreography is more simplified than Jackson‘s, as The Fader reports, her synchronized movements with her band members recall the pop icon’s performance at the 1987 Grammy Awards.

You’ll know it when you see it: sharp arm movements, synchronized body rolls, and angular posting that’s highlighted by Perry’s ruffled stage costume and her backup singers’ white outfits.

Fans can finally get excited for Witness: The Tour. After being plagued with delays, the tour finally began weeks after its intended September 7 start date.
